Ham Ham Ham

Good 'ol Thanksgiving. Who doesn't love holidays all about eating too much  being grateful for what you have? On Wednesday, Andrew and I booked it out of Houston at 1 in the hopes of getting to Fort Worth without too much traffic. However, we live in Houston and traffic is just a part of our lives these days. We still got to grandma's house in 6 hours despite the traffic and a half hour Chicken Express stop. So we chatted and ate ice cream way into the night. The next day there was basically no cooking that needed to be done. The pies were ready, we made the salad and dressing, all that was left was waiting for everyone else to bring the food. It (and Uncle, Aunt, cousins, cousins' significant others, and Aunt's family) all eventually got there and we had a great time. Post lunch we all wanted to take a nap so...we went for a walk of course! Oh yum, makes me want to eat it all over again The Thanksgiving Gang minus a couple On Friday grandma let ...

Happy Halloween!

What a happy Halloween we had around here. Andrew and I believe in going all out for holidays and this one was right in line. We had a fairly extended Halloween this year. First we decorated the apartment Thanks Deborah! Then we made our costumes/decorations for the trunk or treat: Andrew got to experiment with the sewing machine Oh the wonders of puff paint. If you can't tell, we're ex-olympians (we got fat from having too much McDonald's) It's a monster trunk! (Yes, it IS eating a scarecrow) That's right, we won an award. whoot Then came real Halloween. For work Andrew dressed up with some of the other co-ops, we got 2 dollar burritos at chipotle for dressing up (so yum!), and we carved pumpkins while we waited for little trick-or-treaters who never came: Can you tell who he is? trying to dye his hair yellow...yuck This time we did gray hair and humpback to help people get it a little quicker that we were...

Nothing too crazy

It's been pretty chill around here the last few weeks, but I'll give you the highlights: We decorated for Halloween a couple weeks ago!  Have I ever told you just how much I love decorating for holidays? Man oh man, it sure is a lot. It just feels so darn festive and exciting. (I don't have pictures of this yet- check back later). Two weekends ago Andrew and I decided to try out the local (on our street) Italian restaurant and while the pasta left me slightly unsatisfied, there was some mighty good bread. (Speaking of bread, I made homemade rolls for the first time ever and they were quite delicious.) On our way to Antonio's P.S. Andrew really needed a haircut in this pic and I still haven't given him one... The best part of our recent activities was definitely last weekend. The mall was almost closed and Andrew and I were really feeling some soft pretzels-but the food court didn't have any! So, when we passed IHOP on our way home, I thought that sounded ...

This one time I got crafty

Everyone who knows my sister and I knows that she's the crafty one. She's awesome at decorating, scrapbooking, sewing projects, art, you name it. I, however, did not end up with this great gift. I got my first ever "B" in art class. My idea of great art for the bedroom wall? My science class project of my body shape cut out on purple butcher paper and the muscular, nervous, skeletal,... systems drawn in. It just doesn't click with me. In light of all this, the story I have to share will most likely deeply impress you. Andrew's parents were cleaning out our backyard at the beginning of the summer. They were about to haul off a nasty old door, but I stopped them 'cause I just knew I could use it for something. At the beginning it looked about like this: Yuck. It was super dirty, cracked, chipped and peeling paint, etc. So we got busy removing the frame, taking off the paint, gluing the cracks, and filling in some holes. Next we primed and pa...

How to celebrate fall in Texas

I love cool weather. Fall is when I get most excited and full of energy (just ask my old roommates). As such, I've been having a hard time enjoying the mid- to high-80s weather around here. BUT, this weekend we had a blast of fall fun. On Friday we watched the Cougars win some football. Saturday we went to the "Safety Harvest" Andrew's work was throwing-it was basically a fair, but they tied safety into everything. We had lots of free food, our picture taken, candy, and free massages. I felt like puking afterward, but it was great. Then I went to the RS Broadcast and dinner at church. I got to know one of the women in my ward, and met some women in another ward. I loved the conference. Eating heart attacks on a stick at the Safety Harvest Sunday was a great day. Andrew and I gave a ride to a girl around our age coming to church for the first time and got to know her a little bit. I taught my sunday school class for the first time (12-15 yr olds) and it went pr...

Visitors cont'd

The weekend was another win for this Glenn family. Stephen had one more night in town, so Andrew and I drove up north to get in some quality time. We got pizza, chips and ice cream (win-win right there), then proceeded to play a riveting game of trivial pursuit with Stephen's sister-in-law. Andrew and I are geniuses so I'm sure you can guess how that one ended (I won't bore you with the details). We spent the night up there so that we'd be close to the Houston temple the next day. It was wonderful to feel so at peace and to enjoy the beauty of the temple. We're so glad that we got to spend more time with Stephen, plus it was a nice mini-vacation for us. We're getting used to this life of constant visitors, so someone else needs to come see us soon!

Visitors :D

We were so spoiled this past weekend. My mom came down for Time Out for Women, and Andrew's brother came for some work things. I got to spend lots of time with my mom (and Lori) on Friday and Saturday. We squeezed in a little shopping and a tasty trip to Panera. Andrew hung out at the mall during our conference on Saturday so that he got to spend some time with Stephen once he flew in. Then we all went to dinner. We love and miss all of our family. It was wonderful to have some in town, and we get to hang out with Stephen again before he leaves. Thanks for all the good eats and good times. We love our family!
