The Lone Star State

Yikes! It's been a while. Well it feels like nothing notable has happened in the last month of my life, and yet here I am in a different state. Here's the recap: Andrew and I got here two weeks ago and were quickly unpacked and settled despite our car troubles. In fact, I think we got settled a little too quickly because now I have nothing to do during the day. Andrew seems to be enjoying his job, and he has probably already gained weight from all the times they've fed him. He's made friends with the other co-ops and loves Texas BBQ. Our ward here is so nice. Almost everyone came up and introduced themselves to us on our first Sunday and offered to help us with anything and everything we might need. They're a good bunch. We haven't done much exploring yet, but don't worry, we plan on it. As for me, I stay home and read just about every day. To be honest, I miss the business of life in Provo and being a student, but I'll get back to that before long. Fo...

Wah-ha-ha-hoo

Did the title make you think of Mrs. Frizzle, 'cause that's what I had in mind. It's official, we have an apartment! Since we'll already be (almost) halfway there this time next week, that is such a wonderful thing. The not so wonderful part is packing. I don't hate it and I'm rather used to it but...it's a lot of work and we haven't exactly started yet. So, on to other things. Here's a recap of our most recent Saturday: First we hit up some yard sales and got a 5 dolla entertainment center (they even delivered it for us!) after which the Fishes stormed into our open house and scared us half-to-death. Then we got our cowgirl/boy on and rode horses with Andrew's dad. I wish I had some pictures, I know a couple were taken. It was a lot of fun. (First time I've ridden horses that aren't ridden pretty much every day). I was a little nervous at first 'cause they were kind of jumpy, but I loved it. For the grand finale of the day we we...

My family can't help being awesome

Can you believe it? We're moving in 19 days! There is still so much to do! It turns out to be rather difficult to live in an apartment outside of Provo. We have to find our own electricity and internet, it's more expensive, very limited options for a 4 month lease, and proving that you have enough money to live there is quite the pain in the rear. But we're doing our best and Andrew talks to the apartment people about once a day. I'm also really kind of depressed about the upcoming heat, humidity, and bugs since the lack of those are easily my 3 favorite things about Provo. (Well and the fact that I can buy long shorts and modest swimsuits at my local Costco). What an adventure this will be. In other news, my job had a great perk this week: I got to see Harris! It was awesome to see him every evening and chat for a second. I'm excited to pick him up and hang out with him for one more day before he goes home. (Thanks for lending him to me mom.) This reminds me, And...

dirt, bugs, blisters, and DISNEYLAND

Continuing with our rather exciting month of May where we are never home, we went camping this past weekend a while ago! A group of around 20 people from our old singles ward decided to go camping up in Maple Canyon like we did last year and we had tons of fun. We don't get to see all of them that much what with being married and all, and we just loved it. We had great food, went on a 5 mile hike, had a snowball fight, told stories around the campfire...everything you're supposed  to do when you go camping. Oh! and last year we went on my birthday so they made we a cobbler and put candles in it. When we pulled them out only the wick was left...gross. Anyway, we didn't go on my birthday this year but they made me a cobbler anyway and sang happy birthday to me. It was awesome, I like them all so much. :D (I wrote that at least a month ago) THEN, we went to DISNEYLAND with the Fishes!! Only the happiest place on earth. It was actually a blast. We planned out our days ...

Adventures Galore!

Oh boy, have we been living it up recently! First, momma came to town and that was a treat (literally; she LOVES ice cream so we were "forced" to eat it). She and I went to women's conference on Thursday and Friday while Andrew labored away at his research job. It was wonderful; so many good thoughts and ideas. The best part was that they gave us thirty minutes between each class to get to the next one and since I'm used to 10 minute breaks, this gave my mom and I plenty of time to chat and catch up. In the evenings she taught me how to use the sewing machine she and my pops got me a few months ago. Our first project was embellishing burp cloths for baby shower gifts. It went okay... The second project was pretty much all my mom; we made an underskirt to give some extra length to those dresses that are just a little too short. It turned out great! It's always wonderful to have family around, Andrew and I loved having mom here. So who wants to visit next? Then o...
