Let's back up to the first weekend after we got back from the 4th of July festivities in Texas, I believe that was the 12th. We took a trip to the French Quarters of New Orleans. The main reason for going was the aquarium, but we also walked around the French Quarters a little bit and had beignets at Cafe Du Monde (because we had to, right?).
The aquarium was great. It wasn't as big as we were expecting, but we learned lots of fun facts and saw a giant anaconda. Two of my favorite things that I learned: A particular species of fish native to the Amazon eats berries that fall into the water. Often, these berries ferment and the fish end up getting drunk from eating them and then they do crazy things like jump into the fishermen's boats. How funny is that? Also, shrimp are really really weird. They taste with their feet, their brains are in their throats, and they have teeth in their stomachs. What??

Probably my favorite part of the aquarium was the shark tank, but we didn't get any pictures of it. Rats.
After making our initial loop around the aquarium (during which Adaline stayed in the stroller because we thought she would take a nap), we stopped for lunch and then let Adaline lead us around on the second loop. Adaline went nuts! She absolutely loves fish and making fishy sounds/faces and she enjoyed taking us around to everywhere that she wanted to go.

Turns out the aquarium setting does a pretty good job taking pictures at the aquarium...if only I'd figured that out when we got there instead of after lunch. |
After the aquarium, we walked to Cafe du Monde and Adaline fell asleep. I am so glad she did because then we didn't have to share any of our tasty beignets with her. They were delicious. On the way back to the car, we stopped in as many stores as possible so that we could cool off. It was a really fun day, but New Orleans is just not a city that you meander through in the middle of the day in July.

Random church. But dang, Andrew is looking goooood. |
Oh yeah, I didn't get any pictures of it, but the cemeteries in New Orleans are awesome looking because all the bodies have to be "buried" above ground because of all the water in the ground. They look really really cool. You should google it.
