Little Miss 10 Months

Adaline is 10 months old! She is 5/6 of a year old. If her first year of life were trivial pursuit, she would only be missing the purple pie piece. How is this happening? Oh well, it's happening and I love her more every day. I'll tell you what though, that girl is kind of crazy. She is so much fun right now. She just recently learned to make kissy sounds, but she hasn't yet figured out that she's supposed to kiss our cheeks, not the air. It's pretty cute. In the video, she just does a couple, but normally she'll just go on and on and on.

I guess the big news is that Adaline took her first independent steps a couple weeks ago. She only does a couple steps at a time, but she's starting to do it more and more. It's still so weird to see her walk. She also LOVES reading books now and will actually sit still in my lap long enough for me to read 5 or so books at a time. It's kind of weird since she normally can't sit still for more than 2 seconds. She is very interested in dressing herself right now. She is constantly trying to pull clothes onto herself. She thinks that everything except for socks should go over her head-she knows that socks go on your feet. Adaline still makes a great jogging buddy, even though we keep getting snowed on and rained on due to my bad timing.

I'm pretty sure this is how you put this on.

Ta-da! Did it.

I always thought that Adaline didn't know how to go down stairs because she never would. The other night we were at my brother-in-law's house and she wanted to play with her cousins at the bottom of the stairs, so she just went down like it was no big deal. Apparently she just never wants to come down stairs. What a stinker. And she climbs off the couch all the time without falling/getting hurt.
Such a cutie

Andrew and I are still playing soccer. We had our first tournament game and won 8-0, even after they moved us up to the intermediate division. It is so much fun to play soccer with Andrew and his friends. One of his friends was even talking to him about our last game and said it was hard for him to believe that I had never played before because I was a really good defender. It's obviously not a big deal because it's just intramural soccer, but it was still nice to hear.

On Valentine's Day, I woke up to a trail of caramel hershey's kisses that led to chocolate covered strawberries and a wonder woman card that said, "this was the best picture I could find of you at the store." Andrew is such a silly, awesome husband. That night we waited an hour and a half to eat at Olive Garden, but it was delicious and really didn't seem that long. The bummer was when we tried to go country dancing and the building had been torn down. When we found the new location, there was nothing going on. So...we went grocery shopping instead. Lame, I know. But it was a good night overall.

First time to really play in the snow:

She obviously loves it.
Reading stories with Adaline's friends

Until she destroys them

And then looks awkwardly pleased about it

Hey-oo mama

Last week, we got to spend the day with Adaline's cousin. To pass the time, we went to the play place at the mall.

Riding a rabbit. Backwards

Andrew pulled out his clarinet and Adaline loved the private concert

Practicing her conducting

Last week, I got to cheer on my alma mater (that's right, I graduated) in celebration of our nephew's birthday.

Birthday boy

Yup, she's shredding/eating toilet paper and wearing my bra.

5 minutes later I found her wearing Andrew's shorts

I've been working on a project recently and my poor family has had to deal with this mess everyday

Rolling her eyes already...great.

A for Adaline!

Wearing my bra again. With my sweaty shirt tangled in there too. Great clothing choices, hun.

Hanging out at the library

Enjoying her heart-shaped pancake on Valentine's Day!

Well, I try to be creative with her hair

She loves her bunny so much she wants to eat it

Marilyn Monroe? Seriously, child?

I love that she's wearing this dress because my mom made this dress for me when I was a baby. (Hey mom, can you send me a pic of that?)

Oh yeah, and I also realized that Adaline really is saying words even though I was in denial about it. She says mom-mom/mom/mama for me, pap/papa for Andrew, clap, bye, and up. She's also getting pretty good at mimicking sounds that we make.

I love you, Adaline!

  1. I replied back to your comment on my blog in my email, but I have no idea if it gets to you so I thought I would come write it here too :)

I wish we could be play buddies, Sarah! Avery could use some encouragement to get around on her own from Adaline! She always wants me to walk her everywhere. gah! P.S. I didn't know you read my blog! I always read your from your facebook links and I kind of feel like a stalker so I'm glad you read mine too ;) It's really fun to see what Adaline is up to since she is so close in age to Avery.
