I know, I know, Adaline is 7 months old

Sorry! I always mean to update the 'ol blog and then I just get so busy!
Some 7 month (ish) pictures:

Halloween was great. We just went to a couple of our friends houses to "trick-or-treat" but only their roommates were home and it made me excited for next year when it won't be so awkward to take Adaline trick-or-treating. I was so proud of myself for making Adaline's costume. She was a minion, Andrew was Gru, and I was Dr. Nefario. Adaline's costume was by far the best, but it was still fun to do a family costume. We went to the ward halloween party and hung out with my mom since she came into town that night.

Her hair is so long!

Later that night (long after I had gone to bed), Anna and Dave got in. I still had to teach all day Friday, but once I got home I got to play with everyone. We went to Chili's that night, and the next day we ran some errands and went to Laura's wedding reception. My mom got to come to church with us, but Dave and Anna had to leave in the morning. Even though it was short, it was fun to have visitors and it's always fun to open Hotel Greenhouse.

She loves her fort

Adaline is a pro at eating paper, playing in her "fort" (aka the end table), eating, walking along the furniture, climbing up our legs, playing peek-a-boo (where she pulls a blanket up and down and up and down...she thinks it's hilarious), and playing in the trash. She gets places soo fast, we really have to watch her! We also found out that she can climb up stairs. We don't have any stairs at our house, but there are stairs at her cousins' house and we were quite surprised to find out she could climb them so fast even though she'd never done it before.

If you haven't noticed, her tongue is pretty much always out

Adaline is hilarious. She has started to mimic us and is getting better at waving and high fiving. I have my doubts about how much she really gets it, but I think most of the time she deserves more credit than I give her. (Like when she crawls toward me and says mama-I guess we'll just never know if she gets it or not.)

I promise we feed her

Right now I am most grateful for Adaline's amazing sleep habits. She has kept up with the 12-12.5 hours a night and I could not be more grateful. As much as I love it, teaching is hard and I really need my sleep. More on that later.
helping us put up our stockings

For Thanksgiving, we went to Adam and Audrey's  and had dinner with their family, Andrew's parents, Andrew's grandma, and Andrew's uncle and his family. We made mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, a pecan pie, and a pumpkin pie. It was the first time I've really contributed to Thanksgiving dinner-it was fun! There was SO MUCH FOOD. We all wanted to help and there ended up being 3 different sweet potato dishes, 10 pies, and so many other foods! After dinner we sang Christmas songs and then Andrew and I stayed and played games for a bit after putting Adaline to bed.

She is curious about EVERYTHING

Hanging out with great grandma Smith

On Friday we rode Front Runner to SLC with Miriam and Kelly and the gang. We had dinner at the City Creek food court, did some minor shopping, and then walked around Temple Square to see the lights. It was pretty cold, though not as chilly as last year. Then we rode Front Runner back home and Andrew went to a movie with Kelly while I ate leftover pecan pie at home. Adaline was so good all day long. She loved getting to roam around on the way up and didn't even scream in the cold or when we were riding back and it was 1.5 hours past her bedtime. I love that little girl and I'm grateful she is so chill and flexible.

Adaline tried out having her own seat

On Saturday we hung out at the Glenn house, went to the Spanish Fork craft show, shopped, and watched old family home videos. Andrew was a very cute kid-and so calm. We spent Sunday finishing our Christmas decorations. We finished "building" the fireplace that we started on Wednesday so we would have somewhere to hang our stockings, put up the Christmas tree, put garlands and lights around the house, lights on the outside of the house, put up the wreath, and switched all the towels for the Christmas towels. I love feeling festive. The only bummer is that babies and Christmas trees aren't the very best combination...

I'm almost completely finished with college. I have less than 2 weeks (and during the second week, I'm supposed to be "phasing out" of teaching). I'm really going to miss teaching, but I am so excited to get to see Adaline more (well, at all). I'm also going to take just a minute to brag a little bit, so if you don't want to hear it, you can stop reading now. I love teaching. I always knew I wanted to be a math teacher (I specifically remember saying so when I was in 3rd grade). Because of this, it's one of the few things I care about being good at. And you know what? I am good at it! My mentor teacher told me that at the beginning of the semester he was impressed with how natural of a teacher I was and said that he hadn't seen a new teacher do so well. A few weeks ago he also told me that I was at the point that most teachers are after their first year of teaching. I also was talking to my university supervisor (who does not just hand out compliments) about internships. She said that they are incredibly selective about who they accept for the internship program because it's very difficult and if the intern doesn't do well, it makes BYU look bad. Anyway, I was telling her how I thought I would have liked doing an internship, and she said that if I had applied, I would have been accepted for it, even though no one was accepted this past semester. It was a huge compliment and I was so excited to hear her say that. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback when my lessons are observed and it is so awesome to be good at what I want to be good at! I obviously still have a long ways to go, there are always going to be things I can get better at and some days are better than others, but things are going well and I love teaching. :D

I sure love these two
