8 Months Old and a College Graduate

That's right folks. I'm really, completely, totally done with college. I didn't even have finals so I finished up last week. It still hasn't sunk in that I'm finished. I think that's what the graduation ceremony is for, but I already went to that back in August. It feels good but I really don't know what to do now. I loved my students and I'll miss them lots. On Monday I found that every time I checked what time it was, I thought about which period it was and what was probably happening. I have plenty to do and so many projects that I'm excited to get started on or finish up, but I will miss teaching. A lot.

On Wednesday the Salem Jr. High choirs were performing at the mall. Close to half of my students were in choir, so Andrew, Adaline, and I went over and watched them sing. They did so well and it was fun to surprise my students by being there. They are all so great.

So, the main attraction...Adaline is awesome. She gives high fives, her favorite food is mom's hair, and her favorite toy is dad's hair. She LOVES getting to ride on daddy's shoulders. She's been adjusting well to the change in schedule with me being home now, but you can tell that it's not what she's used to. Plus, I've been trying to finish getting ready for Christmas so I've been wearing her out every day.

"Sometimes mom makes me take pictures with her..."

"And this is how I feel about it."

Adaline got sick for the first time ever a few weeks ago. She had a pretty high fever and was just miserable. I hated that I had to leave her, but at least she was in good hands. She got over fairly quickly and then was in the best mood ever. I think she squealed nonstop for 3 days straight.

I don't know what's really that different about her compared to last month. She's still crawling around and standing but she isn't very interested in walking. She'll occasionally let go and just stand up for a couple seconds, but she doesn't do that very often. She smiles so much and she thinks her parents are hilarious. She absolutely loves bath time and meal time. I really love that crazy little monkey.

I did it! I french-braided her hair! And this is how it
looked by the end of the day.

Trying out her new shoes. (and not
wanting to stand up)

She'll shoe on this strap for SO LONG

Things we've done recently...
One of Andrew's old roommates (he's also my friend) plays in the Orchestra at Temple Square and got us tickets to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert with Deborah Voigt and John Rhys-Davies. The drive up was full of traffic and we had to eat our dinner while running across Temple Square, but the concert was great. I loved the decorations all over the stage and John Rhys-Davies acted out the story of Charles Dickens and how A Christmas Carol came to be. There was also an organ solo that was unbelievable. He had incredibly fancy footwork and he was our favorite part. (Thanks Garrett!)

It was also Andrew's birthday last weekend. Conveniently, we got to go to Tucano's for free with Andrew's work. Adaline enjoyed trying some food...
"Mom, this is yucky...I think I might cry."

"Really mom, I'm repulsed."

"ewwww"

"Here, please take this away from me so I'm not tempted to keep eating it."
On Sunday, (Andrew's actual birthday) I spent the whole day making cheesecake. Then I made fajitas by request for birthday dinner. Then, oddly enough, family started showing up while Andrew was giving Adaline a bath. We had dessert and a little party for Andrew and he wasn't expecting it at all.

I forgot to mention a while back that Andrew accepted an internship offer with Dow Chemical. It was kind of a scary process because he first got an offer with a different company that he was really interested in but it wasn't his first choice. He had to give them an answer before he heard back from other companies. We felt like we weren't supposed to accept that offer, so he said no. Without anything else lined up. A week or two later, Andrew got the offer from Dow. We were so excited! So next summer we will most likely be moving to Michigan, but we won't know for sure for a while. I'm SO proud of Andrew and really excited for this adventure!
