August 2022
As August rolled around, we were feeling the pressure of trying to squeeze all the last drops out of summer that we possibly could. We harvested a tiny bit from our garden (we really didn't plant much this year) and tried to spend plenty of time at the pool and outside.

Before our busy schedules kicked back in, we managed to meet up with the Schultzes for a park day in Fremont. I love venturing out and finding some of the super cool parks out there.

Andrew's work finally had a family event, and one that our kids were excited about! We got to all go to Six Flags for the day! Adaline took me by surprise and rode one of what I would call the "adult/big kid" rides which she doesn't normally choose to do. She then said that Lasso of Truth was her favorite ride of the whole day. Since she was the only kid tall enough to ride it, it was also fun to go on it just the two of us. Meanwhile, Matthew and Michael enjoyed riding the wildest rides they were tall enough for and going on repeat of the Cobra (the medium-level roller coaster). Alex was content to ride the rides in the kid area and that was just about all he was tall enough for. Everyone also loved watching the seals, seeing the dolphin show, and petting the stingrays. We were all pretty worn down by the end of the day, but it's so fun to have kids tall enough to enjoy some of this stuff.

Can you find the two boys in this picture? |

Adaline went to her first school friend birthday party and had such a good time skating and seeing friends again. |
First day of school! 4th, 2nd, and kindergarten for these kiddos. Michael trying not to squint in the bright sun cracked me up.
And now it's just me and Alex (at least for the mornings). He started his first semester of music class and came home the very first day and colored every picture in his entire book-so basically all of his homework assignments for the semester. I was very impressed that he could sit and focus for so long and I loved how seriously he took it.

Gosh I can't believe how tall and grown up she is all of a sudden. I'm grateful she still likes to hang out with me and I'm hopeful that she always will. |
