There wasn't a cloud in the sky

 January 2022

Adaline and Matthew's winter break didn't end until January 10th, so we enjoyed some slow days with lots of time to play.

Practicing baseball and basketball at the park, featuring a rare Andrew sighting!

Alex and Michael both have a constant need to take pens apart

My mom found her old prom dress (prom that she went to with my dad) when she was cleaning things out at grandma's over Thanksgiving. She gave it to Adaline, and now Adaline dresses up in it all the time. Doesn't she look way too old??

My boys are so naughty sometimes!

One day before school started back, the kids asked if we could go sledding the next day, as it was supposed to be Andrew's Friday off. Well, Andrew didn't know this and so he texted me saying that he needed to work the next day. When I mentioned what the kids were tentatively planning, he was game, and we spent a day playing in the snow and then getting burgers and pizza on the way home-so basically a perfect day.

Alex was most interested in eating the snow. Luckily, it snowed a decent amount while we were there, so there was some clean and untouched snow available for him.

Maybe he has a future in fashion?

They are seriously always climbing

I have to admit, January is pretty awesome where we live

Michael has learned that he LOVES roasted cauliflower

We were a little bored one day (I think it was a Saturday when Andrew was working) and so we made a little tournament with a LEGO shooter

I cannot get enough of this guy. His imagination is always running at full speed and he dives deep into whatever game he is playing

Also in January, Andrew and I celebrated 10 years of being married. Wowza. I used to think that 10 years would feel like a really long time. It some ways I guess it does (we've lived a handful of places, had 4 kids), but mostly it feels incredibly short. Anyway, with Andrew being in the middle of a start up, it took some intentional planning and very nice friends to achieve a much needed date weekend. We had barely seen each other during the month up to this point, and we got a full 48 hours together! Lydia took the kids on Friday evening, so Andrew and I went to Trader Joe's and picked up some fancy cheese and other snacks/treats and watched Jungle Cruise (we are forever way behind on media). After getting to sleep in, we started the next day off with an 8 mile run. Andrew doesn't run nearly as much as I do, so this was quite a stretch for him and I couldn't believe he did it. Admittedly, I think he was having major regrets by the time we had about a mile left, but all the time before that we enjoyed chatting without interruption. After that little warm up, we (finally) went to Red Door escape room for their mini escape room. It only took something like 25 minutes, and be both thought it was a perfect little bite size activity. Next, we went to a Torsap Thai Kitchen for lunch. Both of our dishes were good, but Andrew's pumpkin curry was amazing! We walked around, shopped, napped on a park bench (ha), went to a café for some tiramisu and pistachio cream cake, and watched Tick Tick Boom. The next day, we had brunch at Havana and went on an almost 5 mile hike out in Moraga. It was gorgeous and perfect weather! After a shower and a nap, we were excited to see our kids again. We went to pick them up and our friends were generous enough to even feed us all dinner before we took the kids back home. They were the Rockstars of the weekend.

Andrew and I had so much fun and packed in many of our favorite things. Andrew likes movies, we both like hiking and trying new food, and I like being outside/active and solving puzzles. Oh, and we both love sleeping, obviously. I'm impressed with how many of our favorites we managed to fit into one weekend. It was so fun!

I love fruity/gummy candy-and especially trying new kinds

seriously such perfect weather
