Halloween Hooligans

Wow, the time has really gotten away from me. The last thing I posted was Michael's birth story and he is now 2 weeks shy of being 3 months old. Since then, we've had Matthew's birthday, Thanksgiving, two visits from the Glenns, Andrew's birthday, Christmas, and I trip to the Reeves. We've also been house hunting and doing all the normal adjusting-to-life-with-a-newborn-and-two-toddlers. Needless to say, I'm not shocked that I have so much to catch up on.

First, I need to back up to a couple things we did before Michael was born:
Adaline mimicking my pregnant belly pictures

General Conference games that Stephanie made for the kids. This actually kept them entertained for a while. Adaline was supposed to be listening for specific words, but instead she would just repeat the last thing she heard and put  up a fish. Ex: "mom, they said 'wonderful blessing!'" I was just fine with her method.

I know they look like jelly fish, but they all swear they made octopuses

Having a campfire and roasting marshmallows
We made sure we went to the pumpkin patch before Michael was born, since we weren't so sure we would make it if we wanted until after his arrival. We went to the same one as last year and it was fun to see how different the kids were. Matthew wasn't quite one the last time!

It's hard to believe that we didn't know Michael was a boy. Now, I can't imagine having had a girl.

I think I grew the most of anyone lol

We spend lots of time exploring around our apartment complex and finding bugs, squirrels, and cats. This time we found a praying mantis and kids were simultaneously mesmerized and terrified.

Next it jumped up to his face and he, understandably, freaked out
That catches things up to the week of Michael's birth which I already covered, so...

Isn't that just the most precious, tiny, little face you've ever seen?
The first couple weeks, we all took turns holding Michael and watching him sleep. He has been an amazing sleeper and a chill baby, for which I am incredibly grateful with all I have going on. Right from the beginning, he would occasionally sleep through the night (7+ hours) and by 2 weeks, he slept all night more often than not. That has been a game changer. It's still been a lot of work and a big adjustment, but getting a pretty good amount of sleep has completely changed my ability to function post-baby. Adaline and Matthew both LOVE Michael and are always asking to hold him. They also spend of lot of time trying to play with him while he sleeps and talking to him in their super high-pitched baby voices. Michael is a sweetheart and seems to not mind their smothering affection, at least until he starts to really fear for his life. Then he cries out and I come and rescue, much to the disappointment of Adaline and Matthew. They think Michael is their own little baby doll to take care of and dote on.

I don't ever have to ask him to pose for pictures-he is always doing stuff like this. Matthew literally shook anytime he interacted with Michael for at least the first month.

So far this is my favorite picture my M babies

I'm trying to take more pictures of my and Michael because I noticed a lack of pictures with my other babies.
Nama came to the library with us when she was in town waiting for Michael and noticed that our book bag was completely shredded from over-stuffing it with books (at the time, we had 62 books checked out). Less than 2 weeks after she left, this glorious bag came to our house. Now we can check out half the children's section at a time! Thanks Nama!

This picture cracks me up. I can't tell whether he hears Matthew coming or just doesn't love the hat.

Adaline and Matthew like to take pictures on my phone. I try to give them really nice poses.

Our ward trunk or treat was on Oct 28, ten days after Michael was born. Previously  I was supposed to be in charge of it, but Michael was supposed to be a whole week older. I ended up feeling a a chicken with her head cut off trying to delegate and make sure various things happened. I probably should have just stayed home, but that's not exactly in my nature. And it was nice to get out of the house anyway.
Queen Elsa

and her sidekick Olaf

Sure they fight, but most of the time they're best friends and I am so grateful for that.

Right before going to the trunk or treat, we went to our apartment's halloween party. The kids decorated pumpkins, ate pizza, and Matthew, Adaline, and Andrew all won prizes for their costumes

Two Elsas and a cowgirl hanging out with the sister missionaries (a minion and....I can't remember the other costume)
The next day, Andrew ran in the Pittsburg Halloween Fun Run 5K. I had thought about signing up since I expected to be almost 3 weeks postpartum...I am SO glad I didn't do that. Andrew pushed Matthew and Adaline while Michael and I got plenty of exercise walking to different parts of the course to cheer them on. Andrew was the first to finish of those pushing strollers, and I think he got 5th place in his age group (or overall?) he totally rocked it! Afterward, we went to IHOP for breakfast (we were going to go to Lumpy's but I figured it'd be too busy since it's downtown, well IHOP was super busy and not as good; lesson learned)

After breakfast, she finally got a chance to go through her loot from the night before.

Sleeping through all the Halloween excitement

After his nap, I came into his room to find him lining up all of the library books. Obviously that crib isn't containing him anymore

Sunday nap

Sunday snuggles with two VERY snuggly boys

Sunday night, my sweet friend Michelle (who had a 2.5 month old at the time) brought us dinner. She carved the stuffed peppers to look like jack-o-lanterns, drew pumpkin faces on clementines, and baked pumpkin shaped sugar cookies. It was completely adorable and delicious.

On Halloween, we made a last minute decision to take the kids trick-or-treating with some friends. It was raining on and off the whole time we were out, but I don't think any of the kids complained.
Olaf camped out with his goodies.

Bat girl and Robin. The funny part is that none of us noticed their costumes coordinated until we were leaving.

Tuckered out after a long tight of trick or treating.
