Happy Birthday!

People have been asking to see pictures from Adaline's birthday party, so I'll delay the post I'm working on about all the stuff we've done over the last month and skip straight to Friday and Saturday's activities.

On Friday we went to the new Aquarium with Audrey, her chicklets, and Gram. Adaline loved the fishies, but she was also a little bit terrified of them and wanted to look but cling to me at the same time. After about 45 mins of watching fish and touching a stingray (just me, not Adaline) she had to take a nap which was a real bummer because then she couldn't see all the cool animals. Afterward we got lunch at IKEA and got lost for an hour or so. I figure since I JUST went to IKEA, Andrew and I don't really have to go to Sweden next week (did you see that?! NEXT WEEK!!!!!), right? JOKES! I can't wait to go!

Deciding it was pretty awesome and a little less scary

After all that fun, I was exhausted and yet Andrew and I stayed up until 1 working on last minute things for Adaline's party the next day. I was verrry cranky by the time I crawled into bed.
This is the project that we didn't finish until 1am

The next morning we were busy cutting fruit, decorating cupcakes, forgetting things, and setting up at the park. I kept telling myself that I didn't care anymore and that it didn't matter because it was a party for a one year old, but watching Adaline laughing her head off while she ran around the park with her cousins made it all worth it. She loved saying hi to everyone and just watching everybody.

And now the only thing anyone cares about...pictures!
The invitation

The little signs in the food say things like, "On Tuesday, he ate through two pears"

Supposed to look like the dots used in the book illustrations

Some people didn't get this one. There are worms and fruit in the bags and a butterfly on the outside. If you've read the book, I'm guessing you can make the connection

Grape caterpillars (the saran wrap got some of their eyes)

Party goers:

I was looking at the book when we got home, and I realized I did the face all wrong...he doesn't even have a smile. I guess that's what happens when I don't reference the book while making it. Oh well, still tasty

Trying to keep the candle from blowing out immediately...fail

Not sure what to do with it and then...

She let out a big, "mmmmm" after this bite

She's really into hugging things right now

"K mom, let's open these now"

Just a little bit excited about this one

And she knows exactly what to do with it

Kind of a good picture of the shirt I made her

I finally got some time with the birthday girl!
It was a great day, and some many things worked out well for us (like the weather being perfect and only raining after the party was over and the park tables not being in use). Adaline had so much fun, and I think everyone else did too. Adaline adds so much joy and so much fun to our lives. She is very active, very affectionate, and very clever. We love her so much!
