Adaline is 11 months old!
Normally, when it's a week before Adaline becomes another month older, I find myself thinking that she just turned last month's age. For the first time ever, all month I've been thinking Adaline was already 11 months old. Weird. She's becoming less and less of a baby every day. Adaline loves to:
- Pick up her sippy cup and get her own drinks out of it. She LOVES water-that's all I've ever put in it.
- Fake cry when she doesn't get something that she wants
- Walk more than she crawls (she's finally figured out that it's more efficient). Adaline is officially a walker. She took her first independent steps almost two months ago, but now she's actually great at it. Most of the time, when she falls down, she just stands back up and keeps walking instead of crawling to get where she's going. It's still kind of weird for me because she just seems so old.
- Play at the library. There's a story here. The last time we were at the library, this other little boy started to kind of poke Adaline. Adaline does the same thing to other babies and, as long as no one is getting hurt, I usually don't intervene so that they can figure out how to interact with other kids. All of a sudden this little boy slapped Adaline in the face. Adaline started crying a "what just happened? I'm really sad now" kind of cry. It was terrible. I felt so bad for my baby girl and the little boy's mom was playing on her phone the whole time, so she had no idea. woof
- Call 9-1-1. She actually just did this once, but an officer called back and then showed up at the door, so it sticks out in my memory.
- Give mom and dad kisses. (There are a few too many teeth involved for these to be very enjoyable, but she is getting better.)
- Play before bedtime. This is definitely Adaline's favorite time of the day. She giggles so much while we're getting her ready for bed.
- Make new friends. Adaline has never been very shy. Just this morning, she walked over to a man she'd never met and was holding on to his pant legs and smiling at him.
- Wave at the chorister at church. Adaline is normally asleep for most of the first hour of church, but because of daylight savings, there was one Sunday when she was awake most of the time. Since she's normally snoozing, she thought the chorister was waving to her the whole time that she was conducting, so Adaline was waving like crazy right back.
- Spit out her vegetables
- Read books. All day, Adaline puts books in my lap and then tries to climb up so that I will read them to her. She LOVES reading.
- Fake laugh when she knows something funny happened. At church yesterday someone made a joke and the whole class laughed. As soon as we all stopped laughing, Adaline let out a giggle. She just wants to be in on everything
- Do things that she thinks are silly to try and get us to laugh. One of her favorites is to scrunch up her face into a ridiculously cheesy grin. For some reason, she thinks it's hilarious.
- Talk on the phone. Her absolute favorite is when daddy calls to say he's on his way home. She gets SO excited every time.

Other news:
Yes! We won the championship! Our team started in the beginniners' division (which is why I felt like I could maybe play with them), but for the tournament, they moved us up to the intermediate division. There were 45 teams in our tournament, and we WON!! And guess what! Andrew even scored the winning goal. It was so much fun to play, and I'm really glad I let Andrew convince me that I should. The semi-finals game was played on Tuesday night and the Final game was on Thursday night. In between the 2 games, Adaline, Andrew's mom, and I drove up to Idaho, stayed the night, and came back down. Adaline did a great job in the car, but at the same time it made me really glad that she and I are flying to Michigan (assuming we go there this summer). It was lots of fun to see M&K and family. The boys were soo good playing with Adaline.
After so much excitement in one week, it only made sense to run in a 10k on Saturday, so that's what I did. It was actually really fun and the perfect weather. My pace was faster than the 5k I ran last August (twice the distance, and faster, whaaat?) and I placed 75th overall (out of 213 people). Since my mi/min pace was about a minute and a half faster than my occasional jogs, and I've only jogged up to about 4 miles, I felt GREAT about my run.

Recently, I was talking with my sister-in-law and she said how much she liked reading my blog and how it looked like we had lots of fun. My response was that you can't get the real picture from just a few pictures and that my blog should come with a disclaimer explaining that it's not all fun and games and cute baby. So, on that note, here is a recap of one of our days last week:
This past Friday was a real doozy of a day. In the morning, Adaline fell out of the car and hit her head on the parking lot (please don't make me explain further, I felt SO terrible). Not even ten minutes later, she fell at the indoor playground and her lip started bleeding in multiple places. Later, I was picking up Adaline's toys and books so that I could vacuum and as soon as I got them all in, she was busy pulling them all out. After vacuuming, I tripped over the cord which pulled it out of the outlet and bent the prongs all out of shape. Boo. In the afternoon, I decided I HAD to have a nap. Literally, the second I closed my eyes and put my head on my pillow, the wretched smoke detector started beeping telling me that I needed to change it's stupid battery. I don't think I've ever been so angry at an inanimate object in all my life.

He's such a handyman ;) |

Ha! She was playing in this dirt for a long time and getting FILTHY. As soon as I said, "I don't care how dirty she gets as long as she doesn't eat it," she stuffed a huge handful of dirt in her mouth. |

Another one of her favorite snacks |

Eh, we tried |

So, you're probably thinking that this picture must be really old...like maybe from the end of November? Nope, this was just a couple weeks ago. We put our lights up soon after Thanksgiving and we were so proud. Then, we didn't turn them on (and it was only a whopping 3 minutes) until a couple weeks ago when we decided it was time to take them down. |
I'm SO glad that it's getting warmer. When it's nice, we spend a lot of time outside because Adaline loves it so much. (Okay, fine, I love it too.) I love my baby girl and can't believe how much personality she has.

Hahaha this face kills me |

:D |

She often brings us shoes and holds her foot out for us to put them on for her |
 |
This is why Adaline always has her hair up. She can't see anything otherwise! |
 |
"No more pictures, please." |
 |
"UP!" |
 |
She loves to put my keys around her neck and then drag them around the house |

I am just so thrilled that she recently found this nasty alien again... |
