I have a 5 month old!

Man oh man does life go quickly sometimes. I started my student teaching Just after Labor Day and it feels like it's been forever and only a day at the same time. Adaline is now 5 months old. She's tried rice cereal, red bell peppers (more like she played with those), and a little avocado. She's been interested in our food for soo long, so we decided it was about time we let her have some. We've started giving her little bits of things we're making, and it's fun to see what she does with them. Right now she mostly just plays with her food, but she's learning. At her 4 month appointment, we told her doctor that she wasn't taking very good naps and that she'd started waking up a lot at night. He told us it was time to let her learn to fall asleep on her own and we just didn't know if we could do that. The next day, we decided to give it a try for her sake. We put her down for her first nap and...nothing. She just went right to sleep. A couple days later she was back to sleeping through the night and ever since she sleeps 12 to 12.5 hours straight through every night. I am SO grateful because I'm barely getting enough sleep as it is with our busy schedule right now. Adaline's "crawl" gets better all the time, and we have to watch her at all times. No matter where we set her down in the living room, within a couple minutes she'll have gotten into something she shouldn't have.

Adaline is still a very petite baby. I guess it's in her genes because my mom said I was size 0-3 months until I was 9 months old. It's definitely nice for when we carry her around a lot. On Wednesday (the 18th), Adaline weighed 13 pounds 4 ounces and was 25 inches long. It's hard to believe she's grown 6 whole inches since she was born. That's a lot! Despite her size, people are always asking if she's 7 or 8 months old and all I can figure is that it's because of all her hair. It keeps getting longer and is now always in her eyes, but I refuse to cut it.

Adaline's latest trick is propping herself up. She often leans on one arm and plays with a toy with her other hand. It's adorable, but it makes her look so much older.

Now for the good stuff: a slew of pictures:
One time it started raining and I said, "Andrew let's just go because this is Utah
and the storm will only last 5 minutes." Then we found ourselves in this mess at
State St and University Parkway...

Kayaking in the Costco parking lot...always be prepared I guess

she was so excited and wanted to do it herself

She is ALWAYS on the move!

Playing with red peppers. They're a little too advanced

That's our sweet little girl. We love her guts and miss her all day when we're gone. Thank goodness Gram takes such good care of her for us.
