Adventures Galore!

Oh boy, have we been living it up recently!
First, momma came to town and that was a treat (literally; she LOVES ice cream so we were "forced" to eat it). She and I went to women's conference on Thursday and Friday while Andrew labored away at his research job. It was wonderful; so many good thoughts and ideas. The best part was that they gave us thirty minutes between each class to get to the next one and since I'm used to 10 minute breaks, this gave my mom and I plenty of time to chat and catch up. In the evenings she taught me how to use the sewing machine she and my pops got me a few months ago. Our first project was embellishing burp cloths for baby shower gifts. It went okay... The second project was pretty much all my mom; we made an underskirt to give some extra length to those dresses that are just a little too short. It turned out great! It's always wonderful to have family around, Andrew and I loved having mom here. So who wants to visit next?

Then on May 1st we found ourselves in the Dominican Republic for our much belated honeymoon! We had SO much fun! Here's a recap:

Monday: I finished packing and running errands while Andrew was at work. Then we took Stanley to the car doctor for some work while we were gone. His mom kindly picked us up so we could get a pizza and Andrew's dad before heading to the airport. We got there around 7 or 7:30 (?) and our plane wasn't leaving till midnight and then it got delayed almost an hour...On the bright side, since our connection was now going to be very tight, we got bumped up to the seats with extra leg room.
On the way to the airport

Tuesday: Barely made our connection in New York. Arrived in Puerto Plata without our luggage and  thus missed our bus to the resort. Luckily there were two other couples in the same situation and so the bus people came looking for us and got us to the resort. Since we didn't have our swimsuits, we mostly lounged and did some exploring and ate ice cream.
Yes, we wore the same clothes for almost 48 since we flew through the night
Wednesday: About midway through the day we got our luggage (and thus swimsuits!).  Since we had to wait around for that we spent the day on the beach and running around the resort. It was raining and we also found a giant chess set to play with!

That is a queen size bunkbed on the beach.

Thursday: We went to Ocean World! It was like a baby version of Sea World and we loved it. Our favorite part were the sea lion show and the dolphin show. That night there was a party at the ocean world casino. Most of the entertainment on the trip was girls wearing very little parading around...lame.

If I look fat in this picture, it's because I had all of our snacks
in my swimsuit (we didn't know they were feeding us lunch :)

Yes, they are dancing

This isn't us, but we went snorkeling too

This is not zoomed in, it was IN my face

Again, not zoomed in, they just came right up to us

Friday: We took a rest day from all the fun the day before. We played in the ocean and went to the Dominican restaurant for dinner. We also played cards with our new friends Cristalee and Ryan who were from Utah

Saturday: Our favorite day. We went on the "extreme mega" as the guides called it. This excursion involved hiking through the jungle, jumping into waterfalls, horseback riding, and ziplining. We have a video of the whole thing if you wanna watch it with us sometime :) By the end of the day we were exhausted, but we got to go to Rodizio and it was soooo good!

Our truck was HUGE

Sunday: More beach and relaxing. They also had a concert/dance party and it was the best entertainment the whole trip.
This is what the resort looked like all week

Monday: This was our last full day so we wanted to get in the rest of relaxing that we needed. We finished reading all the books we brought with us, slept in the sun, and went swimming.

This was his favorite tree; he thought it was so cool!

Tuesday: We left the resort at 8 in the morning (6 MST), had a five hour layover in New York, got to SLC at midnight, and made it to bed by 2am. It was a long day, but such a fun vacation. Thank you mom and dad (Reeves and Glenn) for helping us be able to go and enjoy it so much. We love you!
