First, I missed Valentine's day so I'll recap on that. I woke up having completely forgotten that Valentine's Day and that it was today, so it came as a big surprise when I walked into the kitchen to heart shaped pancake and candy. My family never did a whole lot for Valentine's Day, but we always had heart-shaped pancakes with arrow bacon and when we came into the kitchen we each had a favorite candy next to our plate. Andrew was so sweet to recreate this for me when I didn't even think I had told him about. Later in the day, Andrew was at work until 8 so I went and got him some of his favorite candy and made little valentines. He is still finding starbursts and love notes in all his pockets, shoes, drawers, etc.

We only had sausage for the arrows,
it looked a little funny but tasted great! |

As for this most recent holiday weekend: Andrew had the brilliant idea that we should visit his sister and family in Idaho since they just moved there and we're used to seeing them much more often than we've gotten to recently. Andrew's mom brought up the more reliable car for us to use (thank you!) and we left as soon as we could after school on Friday. (It's really not a bad drive, just uneventful.) The kids were asleep when we got there so we had some time to chat with Miriam and Kelly. Saturday we went to Shoshone (pronounced by us as s-hoe-s-hown) Falls. I think we were all surprised by how cool the waterfalls were. We also really loved the dogs playing fetch in the water because of their belly-flops every time they jumped in. Later we went to the planetarium at CSI (College of Southern Idaho, not Crime Scene Investigation) and (tried to) listen to the rocks' stories, learned about indians, tried to start fires, and did an epic dinosaur puzzle. We finished the day with Cafe Rio : D

soo many yums! |
On Sunday I was reminded of how much better church is with kids in your pew. One word: snacks. Miriam and Kelly have pretty late church, so we got lots of time to play with the kids and do puzzles before and after church. (Andrew, Miriam, and I are puzzle wizards just so ya know.) We had to leave on Monday, but the kids didn't have school so we got to spend some more time with them before we left. Hannah followed me around the whole weekend and had me read a billion books to her. I loved it so much because she used to be really shy around me. It was a great trip and I am so glad we went. Between the great company, delicious foods I didn't have to cook, and adorable kids, I'd say we're already wanting to go back.

Nothing to do with the trip, purely for your enjoyment |
Next stop....Norway?
ReplyDeleteHaha maybe, but I think it takes more than four hours to get there.
DeleteYep. You might as well not go on another vacation. There is no way Norway can trump s-hoe-s-hown falls.
