Recent Anecdotes

Since the purpose of this blog is also to be used as a bit of a personal history, I thought I'd throw in some fun stories/joys of recent life.

1) I am positive that Andrew and I are the luckiest people alive and here are a few reasons:
  • The January that we decided to get married (in DENVER) was shockingly warm. Everyone was able to travel safely, people weren't cold taking pictures outside, and it was just an all-around gorgeous day.
  • Even though our engagement was during the end of a hectic semester, we both have wonderful families who helped us to get everything done
  • The flowers were perfect even though the store looked questionable and I ordered them less than 2 weeks before
  • I was able to find a dress, on-sale, that needed almost no alterations
  • My wedding jewelry was placed in the shoe box with my wedding shoes which seemed like a nice, safe place for them to be. However, these shoes were soon returned to the store with no thought given to the precious packages inside. A couple weeks before the big day my mom called to tell me that the guy who was taking down Christmas lights in the neighborhood brought her a package with her name on it that he found in the bushes. Inside was my jewelry. The sales associate at Nordstrom's found my jewelry, looked up the return and my mom's address, and so kindly mailed it to her only for it to blow of the porch and later be returned by a swell old man. I feel blessed. I know that I am being watched over and I am so grateful.
2) At the reception in Denver, our photographer wanted to get a picture of us kissing after we cut the cake and he needed us to hold the pose for a while. This is what a little girl said to her mom on their way home afterward, "I guess they gave out chocolate kisses because they like kissing so much! I mean did you see them kissing after they cut the cake?! It was for like a half hour and when they finally stopped Sarah said, "Phew!" and had to fan her self! It was AT LEAST a half hour and I kept wondering if they were ever gonna stop because I wanted a piece of that cake!"
    3) Last week Andrew and I were running late to school on a rather cold day when someone pulled over and asked if we'd like a ride up to campus. It was warm and Josh was very nice. Later, on my way to a family history workshop in the JFSB, I completely forgot what I was doing and ended up in the SWKT instead. Someone asked me if I'd help out the first-year nursing students by letting them take my blood pressure. Since a stranger was nice to me that morning, I did and then continued on my way to the workshop. Pay It Forward.

    4) Andrew got a job! He'll be working as a research assistant for a chemical engineering professor in a lab where he's already done lots of work and knows what is going on with the project. Go Andrew!

All in all, our lives are pretty awesome :)
